Gearbox Servicing
Gearbox Servicing
Your gearbox is one of the most vital components of your vehicle and as such should ideally be serviced and maintained regularly to prolong the lifespan. Depending on the vehicle and the typical driving environment, we recommend your gearbox is serviced every 30-100k miles.
Automatic gearboxes run hotter than manual transmissions which can result in the fluids disintegrating. The gearbox should be inspected and flushed every 60-100,000 miles or 6 years depending on driving environment, age and make of vehicle.
Manual gearboxes pick up small particles which contaminate the lubricants and are likely to require servicing every 30-60,000 miles or 4 years, again, depending on make and age.
A well maintained transmission is not only likely to benefit you financially in the long-run, it usually results in a smoother drive with the gearbox in perfect synch, and avoids costly and time consuming mechanical breakdowns.
